  • Hey Tammzz,

I apologize for not being incredibly active on Siren - much of it was due to schoolwork, starting a new job, other wikis and laziness. However, now that school is out for me, I'll be rewatchifn Siren and expanding on episode summaries and character pages in preparation for Season 2 :) Hope you haven't given up on me.

However, I haven't been turning a blind eye to Siren. I've been thinking of promoting Killer Kev to admin since he's been a fantastic editor, and possibly promoting MitchellGreen or ZaltoraWizard (or both if you prefer) since they are quite active on an almost daily basis plus seem reasonably trustworthy.

    • Don't we all suffer from laziness? I admit I was disappointed by your long absence, since we had spent so much time setting up this beautiful wiki and then you kinda disappeared on me. But I understand and accept your reasons because I have also been away from Siren wiki due to exams and now because of the release of the second season 13 Reasons Why. However, I did ask Kev to look after the wiki in my absence since I trust him with managing the wiki. I agree that we should promote him, because of his experience with being an admin (a good one at that). He's admin of several wikis I contribute to and he is very good at regulating the wikis. However, I think he may possibly have a lot on his plate with other wikis (like Riverdale, The Gifted, etc.) But I will ask him.

I also think we should give other users, like MitchellGreen and ZaltoraWizard, a chance to be promoted they do contribute to the wiki consistently. I don't know if they're admin at any other wikis, but if they aren't this could be a good opportunity for them to experience and learn how it is to be an admin and/or moderator because everyone starts somewhere and if we only prioritise people who have admin experience, like Kev, it becomes a challenge for users to assume such a position in a community.

However, out of the two I would prefer MitchellGreen because I feel that ZalotraWizard mostly edits the merfolk/siren pages and doesn't contribute to expanding the rest of the pages.

  • Hey Tammy,

I remember you asking me if we can adopt a wikia. Well, at the end of that thread, we were talking about the Siren Wiki and you said you were interested. Well, I found out that there is an existing Siren Wiki (founded in 2011!) that seems to have been part of many different "Siren" fandoms and has been abandoned. I edited some pages and did some digging, and I found the actual founder who is still active on other wikias and contacted him, asking for bureaucratic rights and to take over the wikia.

RN, the wikia is pretty crappy and desperately needs a makeover in the coding sense. Are you interested in helping out the wikia? There is a lot of issues that needs to be addressed and stuff. I hope you reply soon.

I'll also reply to you once I get a message from the founder.

    • I thanked Mandy and wished her well. I did say she was as merciful as she is ruthless as she is BOSS. And that's the truth.

Now, I've been experimenting with FIL's theme designer (I hope Audrey and Uma aren't mad) to what the theme designer for Siren should look like.

    • Idk I really liked the high-tech Institute. Gives it a cooler, spy-like feel to it like in modern secret agent movies.

The visual effects are due to a budget. With a movie, budgets are set pretty high because either 1) A lot of initial money was given and a budget was made or 2) Production asks for money and spends it, and when the movie is over, the total amount of money used is the budget. Idk which method City of Bones took but pretty sure it was the last one.

TV series have smaller budgets, usually taking the first method in a certain way. Shadowhunters has a lot of visual effects and CGI in it because of its fantasy and somewhat sci-if genera, so they try to really fund their visuals department while spending on the sets and paying the actors and productions team.

I'd make a terrible movie or show critic because their acting doesn't particularly bother me (I hardly pay attention to it - on the show, the actors are their characters).

    • I guess the modern theme looks good, preferred actually, but it defeats the whole point of being a Shadowhunter. They reject the mundane life and prefer to live in the traditional way. And I guess, I do understand the budget difference between movies and tv series, but there are other series that have better visual effects, like TVD for example. Cassandra Clare's books are fantastic. It's mind-blowing that producers are incapable of releasing a visual representation that does it justice. And it's not only the visual effects but the plot as well. They changed so much that it just doesn't seem like the book anymore.

I wish their acting didn't bother me as much, but I'm very picky about everything I watch. It has to really interesting and worth it, so I can sit through the whole show without getting bored. Usually, the first 5 minutes determine if it's a good show, in my opinion. That's the same with books. I usually read Wattpad books, and trust me, there are amazing books there, but with some they prolong it. Especially if they haven't updated a book for over a week, then after a while, I just get bored and stop reading for like a month or two before I check it out again.

  • Hello 🤗 I love this Wiki design! I was thinking of doing similar to my Beauty and the Beast Wiki. Is it okay if you can possibly help me...?

  • I saw that someone added the codes to change your name color. It had some tweaks (for some reason I saw it on my desktop but couldn't see it on mobile) and misspellings. I fixed the codes to make it perfect. I hope you like purple :)

  • It's for mobile optimization. Trust me when I do these sorts of things.

    • And I also made "stubsection" template. So instead of putting To be added in areas of an article where there isn't information, you can add that template.
