Jake's email to the film festival
Stealing Georgia is the independant film, later turned short film, directed and written by Jake Salt for the Tin Creek Film Festival. It is 27 minutes long.[1]
The original version was supposed to be a full-length feature film starring Paige Townsen for Sundance, but after Paige was forced to return to Locked and bail on the project, Jake cast Billy in the replacement role of Georgia. However, Jake and Billie soon became too close with one another, causing strain on Jake's relationship with Paige.
When Jake is unable to finish filming the new version with Billy due to funding, he decides to submit it to the Tin Creek film festival as a short film rather than a full-length film, and realizes he is able to do so with the footage he has from Paige's time spent filming. However, he ultimately chooses to submit the version with Billie anyway, citing his reasoning to be "becoming a better director the second time", but in reality, Jake's fear of confronting his sinking relationship with Paige is getting in the way.
